Collection: Cubist Art

Cubism is an art movement that originated in France in the early 20th century, characterized by the reduction of objects to their basic geometric shapes and the representation of those shapes in a fragmented, abstract manner. Cubist artists, including Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, sought to challenge the traditional methods of representing space and form in art. In Cubist works, objects are often portrayed from multiple viewpoints simultaneously, giving the images a fragmented, collage-like appearance. Cubism had a profound impact on the development of modern art and influenced several other important art movements, including Futurism and Surrealism.
